In July 2013, the European Commission published a proposal to replace the current European package travel regime with a new directive, designed to reflect developments in the way the travel market operates.
皇冠体育app government鈥檚 response to this call for evidence sets out what the UK鈥檚 formal position in the negotiations should be. It draws on the views of respondents and our current understanding of the views of other member states. 皇冠体育app response also takes into account the Department for Transport鈥檚 current review of the Air Travel Organisers鈥� Licensing (ATOL) as part of its domestic reform programme.

This document sets the European Commission鈥檚 proposal in context. It provides an outline of the proposal and our understanding of the Commission鈥檚 intentions. It also seeks evidence and views in response to a series of questions on specific elements of the proposal.
