Consultation description

皇冠体育app Department for Culture, Media and Sport is seeking views on proposed measures to implement the EU Broadband Cost Reduction Directive (Directive 2014/61/EU).

皇冠体育app Directive sets out the requirements Member States must meet to encourage the sharing of existing physical infrastructure which may be suitable for deploying broadband networks and the coordination of civil works across a wide range of infrastructure sectors. It provides rights to access information about existing physical infrastructure and planned civil works to facilitate such sharing and coordination.

皇冠体育app Directive also requires the appointment of a dispute body to handle disputes that may arise as a result of the Directive, and single information point(s) to provide information on planning permits and planned civil works

皇冠体育app Government is required to have implemented the Directive by 1 July 2016.

Please note: Article 8 of the Directive relates to building regulations and is therefore being implemented by the Department for Communities and Local Government - it is not covered within this consultation. DCLG will be publishing their consultation shortly.
