Defence Fire Safety Regulator (DFSR)
Part of the Defence Safety Authority (DSA), the DFSR enforces and provides UK fire safety legislation on MOD premises.
What we do
We provide regulatory direction and enforce UK fire legislation to ensure the MOD achieves and maintains safe operating environments across Defence.
Our scope extends to the UK (including Northern Ireland) and military locations overseas, and the team crosses boundaries into Aerodrome Rescue Firefighting, Structural Firefighting, Major Accident Control Regulations and Military Aviation Activity (MAA).
皇冠体育app DFSR has two disciplines:
- Fire and Rescue (Oversight and Assurance): regulates the fire and rescue services across Defence in accordance with the听Secretary of State for Defence鈥檚 health safety and environmental protection policy.
- Fire Safety: the听DFSR鈥檚 statutory fire safety duties fall into two provisions of the relevant legislation - ensure and assure that the requirement to take general fire precautions are taken by the Responsible (Accountable) Person, and the duty to consult with the听DFSR听as the fire safety enforcing authority in relation to proposed building works.
