Defence Land Safety Regulator (DLSR)

Part of the Defence Safety Authority, the DLSR is responsible for regulating specified risk to life hazards across the Land domain.

What we do

DLSR has responsibility for Defence Land safety and environmental protection regulations, covering: Land Systems; Movement and Transport; Fuel and Gas; Adventurous Training and High-Risk Sport.  

We deliver this by:

  • Tracking, assessing, and advising on forthcoming technology and legislative changes.
  • Setting and maintaining defence land regulations and acceptable means of complains and providing regulatory advice and guidance.
  • Conducting independent assurance through oversight, surveillance audit and inspection.
  • Licensing high-hazard activities.
  • Taking enforcement action to make sure compliance in support of defence operational outputs and capability.
  • Regulating the certification of Land Systems.
  • Managing the use of Derogations, Exemptions and Disapplications from applicable legislation available to the Secretary of State in the Land Domain.
