A major boost for philanthropy
A host of events mark the start of 鈥榓n important and lasting change鈥� for cultural giving.
A significant donation from Sir Terence Conran, an Arts Council fund to promote private giving, and a Government proposal to encourage gifts of works of art to the nation all add up to a substantial boost to .
Sir Terence Conran , helping them to create the world鈥檚 leading museum of contemporary design and architecture at the site of the old Commonwealth Institute in London. This gift brings Sir Terence and the Conran Foundation鈥檚 support for the museum to 拢50m over the last 30 years.听 Culture Secretary praised the 鈥渆xceptionally generous鈥� gift, saying it 鈥渨ill not only help this excellent cultural institution move to a new home, but will also help showcase Britain鈥檚 ability to produce some of the world鈥檚 greatest designers鈥�.
Catalyst Arts - a 拢40m fund to increase private giving to the arts
Arts Council England have also , the Lottery-funded part of the 拢80m scheme to promote private giving .听 皇冠体育app fund aims to help build the long-term resilience of arts organisations by increasing their fundraising potential, and will be invested in three ways:
- 拢30m will go to creating a match-funding and capacity-building scheme, increasing arts organisations鈥� ability to fundraise
- 拢7m will create a one-off grant scheme to support arts organisations with less experience to build their fundraising capacity, funding awards of between 拢15,000 and 拢20,000
- 拢3m will be invested in making available practical advice on how to secure new sources of funding
Welcoming the announcement, Jeremy Hunt pointed out that the fund 鈥渨ill particularly benefit smaller organisations that need help taking advantage of untapped fundraising opportunities鈥�.
