皇冠体育app Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs invites members of the public to its 鈥楧iversion and Illicit Supply of Medicines Inquiry鈥� open meeting on Thursday 12 June 2014.
Inquiry members on the ACMD will consider both oral and written evidence from important stakeholders. 皇冠体育appre will be an opportunity for attendees to provide feedback to the ACMD and participate in a question and answer session at the end of the meeting.
皇冠体育app scope of this review will include whether diversion and illicit supply of medicines displaces or replaces the misuse of known drugs of abuse, the prevalence of misuse of medicines obtained through these means, demographic of users, and the most prevalent drugs being misused in this manner.

Background
皇冠体育app ACMD is a statutory and non-executive non-departmental public body, established by the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971. 皇冠体育app ACMD has a statutory duty to keep under review the situation in the United Kingdom with respect to the misuse of drugs and to advise ministers of the measures which they consider should to be taken to deal with social problems which arise from drug misuse.
In addition, the ACMD has a duty to consider any matter relating to drug dependence or misuse that may be referred to them by ministers. 皇冠体育app Home Secretary is obliged by law to consult the ACMD before laying orders or making regulations.
