Shura Training on media skills
An open and effective press serves to improve the environment for long-term social , political and economic stability. Freedom of expression is fundamental to building democracy. Taking this into consideration, the Embassy organised last December its first Arab partnership project in co-operation with the Omani parliament â€� Shura Councilâ€� . It was a 2 week training course on media and communication skills for the members and staff of the Shura Council. »Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp course was implemented by Thompson Reuters Foundation . »Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp course focused on practical media training such as TV and radio interviews, press conferences and other media skills.
This was the Embassy’s second major project with the Shura Council. »Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp Embassy is building on these projects in order to enable the Shura Council to be a real voice for the people. This can be done by better communication with the people via the media and we are hoping that this course would help in achieving this goal.
