Beyond Boundaries helped me step out of my comfort zone
Peter Kennard joins colleagues from across the UK to celebrate completing Beyond Boundaries - the programme that aims to accelerate civil servants careers.

Nearly 500 civil servants are celebrating after completing the 12-month Beyond Boundaries development programme.
Designed for civil servants from grades AA to SEO, Beyond Boundaries supports learners in progressing to higher job grades.
A series of virtual events are taking place from late October to early November, providing a platform to share key learnings, network, and gain inspiration from distinguished speakers.
Peter Kennard, who works for DWP in Worcester, recently completed the programme. He said:
“It not only helped me realise how many of us share similar self-doubts and imposter syndrome but also taught me to ‘feel the fear but do it anyway.
“I reconnected with my authentic self and embraced stepping out of my comfort zone, especially in public speaking, and advocating for inclusivity. As a result, I’ve taken up additional roles, led projects, and shared my personal journey of unmasking and celebrating dyslexia at work.
Rachel Peck, Head of Entry and Progression Routes, said:
“Beyond Boundaries demonstrates our commitment to nurturing talent within the Civil Service. It equips our colleagues with the skills and knowledge they need to excel and fosters a supportive and inclusive culture. I am immensely proud of all the learners and their accomplishments.
Civil servants can apply for next year’s Beyond Boundaries programme from summer 2025.
