皇冠体育app British High Commission Banjul has donated 1,000 indigenous tree saplings to Bijilo Forest Park as part of a project funded by the High Commission to help conserve Gambia鈥檚 indigenous tree species.
皇冠体育app 1,000 tree saplings were donated to Bijilo Forest Park and the Gambian Forestry Department this weekend by the Deputy High Commissioner George Sherriff in a ceremony which saw the Deputy High Commissioner plant Mahogany saplings in the forest park.
Commenting, British Deputy High Commissioner George Sherriff said:
Bijilo Forest Park or the 鈥榤onkey park鈥� as it is commonly known to many is a well visited and much loved part of the tourism development area in 皇冠体育app Gambia. 皇冠体育app donation of these 1,000 saplings should help educate both Gambians and tourists about the wonderful indigenous flora which exists within 皇冠体育app Gambia and which needs our help to survive. It should also help sustain Bijilo Forest Park as a sanctuary for many of Gambia鈥檚 birds and animals.
This donation is part of a wider project the British High Commission Banjul is funding to plant 25,000 indigenous tree saplings across 6 forest reserves in the West Coast Region.
