Rangoon, BURMA 鈥� 皇冠体育app British Embassy Rangoon today organized a farewell reception for four Burmese Chevening Scholars who will be pursuing Masters Degree Programmes at prestigious universities in the United Kingdom over the next 12 months.
皇冠体育app Chevening Scholarship Programme in Burma welcomed applications for graduate-level study in the fields of Human Rights, Political Science and Governance, Economics and Development, Environment, Journalism / Media, Education and Conflict Resolution. 皇冠体育app four successful Burmese candidates were awarded places to study at the University of Oxford Brookes, University of Essex, University of Bristol and University of Ulster. 皇冠体育app Chevening Scholarship Programme in Burma aims to encourage young professionals and future leaders of the country to develop academically and to bring benefits to Burma on their return.
Mr Andrew Patrick, the British Ambassador designate to Burma said:
We are delighted to support talented Burmese professionals to study at top British Universities. Strengthening skills of Burmese professions who have intellectual and interpersonal qualities for future leadership is crucial for Burma鈥檚 reform process. Congratulations to our scholars and I wish them every success.
At this event, the British Embassy also celebrated the graduation of scholars from the Chevening Open University programme. 皇冠体育app Open University scheme is a distance learning programme designed for young professionals and civil society activists. 皇冠体育app scheme was funded by the British Embassy Rangoon鈥檚 Bilateral Programme Budget, which enabled 39 students to study politics and government and environmental policy.
