Chevening Alumni Network meets with prestigious guest

皇冠体育app newly launched Chevening Alumni Network organised its first official event, a thematic breakfast for alumni at the British Ambassador鈥檚 residence. 皇冠体育app co-presidents of the Alumni Network, Soledad Salman and Eduardo Lagos, reached out for senior alumni as well as the newest Chevening scholars, creating bridges between Chevening generations from the same professional field. One of the invitees, Tarek Yusari, a lawyer and current (2013-2014) Chevening scholar was also invited, confirming the commitment that the alumni community has for its future members and generations.

皇冠体育app guest of honour for the breakfast was Ambassador Maria Teresa Infante, Head of the Borders Department at the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DIFROL), and one of the legal representatives of Chile in the International Court of Justice. Ambassador Infante provided a deep insight in international law and diplomatic relationships, and the processes of the International Court of Justice. 皇冠体育app Chevening alumni showed particular interest in the interrelationship between international law and diplomacy, and how both have developed during Ambassador Infante鈥檚 long career.

皇冠体育app British Embassy in Santiago was represented by the Deputy Head of Mission Russell Baker, the Head of Economic Affairs and Climate Change Karl Zammit-Maempel, and the Chevening Officer, Christian Pena-Ratinen.
