A Chilean delegation from the Ministry of Energy, the Environmental Impact Evaluation Service (SEA) and the Centre for Renewable Energy (CER) visited Scotland in May to see on site how this region is developing technologies for the generation of marine energy. 皇冠体育app visit was made under the framework of the project 鈥楻ecommendations for the Chilean Marine Energy Strategy鈥� that the British Embassy in Santiago is supporting through its Prosperity Fund.
皇冠体育app delegation visited the Orkney Islands where they attended an environmental impact training course (MaRINET) and visited the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) to see the maintenance and operation rooms for the generation of marine energy from waves and tides. In Aberdeen, the visitors attended the 鈥� Europe鈥檚 largest renewable energy exhibition, where the Chilean Ministry of Energy presented the government鈥檚 plans to develop renewable energy in Chile. 皇冠体育app group also held meetings in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and the Orkney Islands with academics, government officials and project developers. In this context, the expertise and know-how gained during the visit will be a direct contribution to the Chilean Marine Energy Strategy.
皇冠体育app project 鈥楻ecommendations for the Chilean Marine Energy Strategy鈥� is financed by the Prosperity Fund of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and will be implemented for the Chilean Ministry of Energy by the Scottish company Aquatera Limited.
