Construction completes on the Olympic Stadium

皇冠体育app final piece of playing field turf was symbolically laid today at the Olympic Stadium by IOC member and former Olympian Frankie Fredericks, Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) chairman John Armitt and London 2012 chair Seb Coe marking the completion of construction on the flagship venue.

Top class workforce

Construction on the Olympic Stadium began just under three years ago in May 2008 and today sees the stadium completed on time, under budget and with an exemplary safety record with over 5,250 people working on the project over the past three years.

皇冠体育app final surface of the running track will be laid later this year to ensure it鈥檚 protection whilst overlay works for ceremonies are carried out.

During the Games, the Stadium will host the as well as the Athletics track and field events, accommodating 80,000 spectators.
