Foreign Office Minister urges support for UN process in Libya

Minister for the Middle East Tobias Ellwood called for unity today at a meeting in Rome to demonstrate unified international support for the UN-led effort to establish a Government of National Accord (GNA) in Libya. He urged parties to the process to come together in support of an inclusive deal.
皇冠体育app meeting, co-hosted by Italy and the US and attended by a host of international and regional partners, highlighted the high degree of international consensus on the way forward to support peace and security in Libya, especially from Libya鈥檚 neighbours and closest partners. Members of the Libyan political dialogue now intend on signing the final agreement in Skhirat on Wednesday 16 December.
Speaking after the meeting, Tobias Ellwood said:
I welcome the support from a broad range of Libyans from across the political spectrum in recognising the urgency of creating a long awaited unity government; I urge all political actors to sign on 16 December. 皇冠体育appre can be no alternative to the UN Process and the Libyan Political Agreement announced in October, and I urge all parties to the talks to unite in the interests of the people of Libya, who want to live in peace and stability.
