皇冠体育app Foreign Secretary spoke for the first time to China鈥檚 Minister of Foreign Affairs, Qin Gang.
皇冠体育app Foreign Secretary set out the importance of engagement between the UK and China on areas of mutual concern, including issues such as the global economy, health and climate change.
He set out the need for peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, and UK concerns over human rights abuses in Xinjiang and developments in Hong Kong.
He reiterated the UK鈥檚 unwavering support of Ukraine and condemned Russia鈥檚 illegal invasion.
Background
Qin Gang was appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs in December 2022. His predecessor Wang Yi was promoted to Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission.
