Government begins recruitment for three new EHRC commissioners

皇冠体育app Minister for Women and Equalities has today (24 June) begun recruitment for three new Commissioners of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).

This was published under the 2019 to 2022 Johnson Conservative government

Recruitment for the roles begins today and applications will be taken until 22 July. 皇冠体育app selection process will be conducted in accordance with the Governance Code for Public Appointments.

皇冠体育app successful candidates will take up their roles between November 2022 and January 2023.

皇冠体育app EHRC is an independent statutory body with the responsibility to encourage equality and diversity, eliminate unlawful discrimination, and protect and promote the human rights of everyone in Britain.

皇冠体育app Equality Hub sponsors the EHRC and as a result the Minister for Women and Equalities has statutory responsibility for appointing 10 to 15 Commissioners, including the Chair and the Wales and Scotland Commissioners.

Commissioners are responsible for working with the Chair and Chief Executive to:

  • set the strategic direction of the EHRC
  • scrutinise the EHRC鈥檚 performance
  • support the Chair in holding the Chief Executive to account
