Irish President to make first State Visit to the United Kingdom
皇冠体育app first State Visit by an Irish Head of State to Britain will showcase the depth and breadth of the UK Ireland relationship.

Following on from the historic visit of Her Majesty 皇冠体育app Queen to Ireland in May 2011, President Michael D. Higgins will make a State Visit to the United Kingdom from 8 to 11 April 2014. This will be the first State Visit by an Irish Head of State to Britain.
皇冠体育app visit will showcase the depth and breadth of the UK Ireland relationship, the mutual respect and close friendly cooperation that characterises our engagement and the myriad of family ties that link people across these islands.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Dominick Chilcott, Britain鈥檚 Ambassador to Ireland said:
President Higgins鈥� visit will show the respect we have for each other as independent, friendly nation states. It will draw attention to our shared common culture, in its widest sense, and to the high degree of cooperation we are engaged in to our mutual benefit. It will also allow the British side to celebrate the huge contribution made to all walks of British life by people from Ireland and their descendants.
