Lord Howell meets with Ayad Allawi

A Foreign Office spokesman said:

鈥淟ord Howell met Ayad Allawi, the leader of Iraq鈥檚 Iraqiyya party, today to discuss the current political situation in Iraq.

Lord Howell welcomed today鈥檚 statement by the Iraqi Supreme Court on the national election and urged Iraq鈥檚 political leaders to work together to form an effective and representative government soon, with which we hoped to be able to work closely in association with our partners in the region and more widely.鈥�
