New action on female genital mutilation

A panel of experts have come together at the Home Office to discuss ways to tackle female genital mutilation.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

Crime Prevention Minister Jeremy Browne outlined government action against the 鈥榟orrific practice鈥� at a meeting held jointly with the NSPCC.

皇冠体育appy were joined by other ministers and frontline professionals to examine the issues involved and action needed.

Abhorrent crime

Jeremy Browne said: 鈥� is an abhorrent crime and we are very clear that those found to practice it should feel the full force of the law.

This meeting was a valuable opportunity to discuss the challenges of working with communities affected by female genital mutilation and identify what more we can do to tackle this horrific practice.鈥�

皇冠体育app roundtable event comes after the Home Office announced a new 拢50,000 fund to support frontline agencies tackling female genital mutilation.

Jeremy Browne is also among ministers who have signed a pocket-sized statement against FGM to set out the law, support families and protect those most at risk.
