New criminal justice board meets

皇冠体育app Criminal Justice Board, chaired by the Minister of State for Policing and Criminal Justice, Damian Green, meets for the first time today.

皇冠体育app Board has been established to ensure a 鈥榳hole system鈥� approach to tackling issues across the Criminal Justice System and overcoming operational barriers.

皇冠体育app Board aims to make the criminal justice system more effective and efficient so that it:

  • reduces crime
  • reduces reoffending
  • punishes offenders
  • protects the public
  • makes reparation
  • increases public confidence and
  • ensures that the system is fair and just

Justice Minister Damian Green said:

鈥楲ast week I set out my vision for reforming the criminal justice system - I want to drive forward a more efficient and effective system that actually delivers justice for victims of crime.

鈥楾hat is why today I am bringing together the new Criminal Justice Board for the first time which includes representatives from Policing, the Crown Prosecution Service, the Courts and, for victims, the Victims鈥� Commissioner. 皇冠体育appse experts will help me identify exactly where the delays occur in the system and work with me to tackle these issues.鈥�

皇冠体育app Board has wide representation from senior leaders across the justice system, including Ministers, Ministry of Justice, the Attorney General鈥檚 Office, Crown Prosecution Service, the Home Office, police representatives, the Victims鈥� Commissioner. 皇冠体育app Senior Presiding Judge will attend the Board meetings as an observer.
