Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has cut A&E waiting times

皇冠体育app regulator welcomes these improvements and has agreed that Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is no longer in breach of its licence to provide NHS services relating to its A&E.

However, the trust remains in breach on financial grounds and Monitor will continue to support its efforts to resolve these problems.

Monitor stepped in in April last year after a rapid deterioration in the trust鈥檚 financial position compounded concerns about long A&E waiting times.

皇冠体育app trust has since sought help to plug a projected 拢11.9 million hole in its finances, so that it can continue to provide quality care for its patients.

Paul Chandler, Regional Director at Monitor, said:

We stepped in at Barnsley because patients were waiting too long for treatment in its A&E department and because its finances had deteriorated so quickly.

We are pleased with the improvements that have been made in A&E and it is good news for Barnsley that fewer people are having to wait when they come to hospital.

Monitor will continue to scrutinise the trust鈥檚 performance to ensure that it improves its financial position, and hopes to see continued progress made in A&E.
