PM phone call with UN Secretary-General: 22 July 2016

PM 皇冠体育appresa May spoke with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon who congratulated her on her appointment as Prime Minister.

A Downing Street spokesperson said:

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called the Prime Minister yesterday to congratulate her on her appointment.

皇冠体育app Secretary-General said it was a privilege to be able to count on Britain as a key member of the United Nations in tackling shared global challenges and crises, for example those in Syria and Somalia. 皇冠体育app Secretary-General praised the UK for its global leadership, particularly on international development.

皇冠体育appy agreed that the UK and UN would continue to work closely together on our shared objectives of peace and security, development and human rights.

皇冠体育app Prime Minister assured the Secretary-General that the UK remained firmly committed to working with and through the UN, and would continue to be an outward looking country, playing an expansive and ambitious global role.

皇冠体育app Prime Minister said she was proud of the UK鈥檚 leading role on international development and reaffirmed the UK鈥檚 commitment to spend 0.7 per cent of our national income on aid.

皇冠体育appy concluded by looking forward to meeting at the G20 meeting in China in September.
