Prime Minister鈥檚 Tourism speech

皇冠体育app Prime Minister has pledged to make Britain one of the top five tourist destinations in the world.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

, Mr Cameron said the income generated from the 拢115 billion-a-year tourism sector was 鈥渇undamental鈥� to rebuilding the UK鈥檚 economy:

鈥淭ourism is a fiercely competitive market, requiring skills, talent, enterprise and a government that backs Britain,鈥� said Mr Cameron.

鈥淚t鈥檚 one of the best and fastest ways of generating the jobs we need so badly in this country. And it鈥檚 absolutely crucial to us making the most of the Olympics and indeed a whole decade of great international sport across Britain.鈥�

He said that 皇冠体育app Government was now committed to building the 鈥渟trongest possible tourism strategy鈥� and ask the tourist industry audience to work with the Government to develop a tourism strategy by the end of this year.

Commenting on the significance of the speech, said 鈥溁使谔逵齛pp Prime Minister鈥檚 speech shows the importance of the sector to the UK鈥檚 economy. Tourism is a great way to drive economic growth and balance the economy.鈥�
