Rio shootings: message of condolences

FCO minister, Secretary of State for Environment and British Ambassador send condolences to the students families

Jeremy Browne, FCO鈥檚 Minister, has sent his respects to the Brazilian people, after the school shooting in Rio that left at least 11 dead. He said:

鈥淚 was shocked and saddened to learn of the terrible attack in a school in Rio today. My thoughts are with the people of Rio, and families of all those involved.鈥�

皇冠体育app Secretary for Environment, Foods and Rural Affairs, Caroline Spelman, who is currently visiting Brazil, was with the Deputy Mayor of Rio, Carlos Alberto Muniz, at the City鈥檚 Palace when she learnt the news of the shooting in a school in Rio. She also offered her condolences to the city and to the families of the victims:

鈥淚 have children of school age and I am always very sad when tragedies like this happen. As a mother, my heart stops a beat or two.鈥�

皇冠体育app British Ambassador, Alan Charlton, attending the Conference 鈥淏razil and the World鈥� in Rio de Janeiro has also expressed his sorrow for the tragedy:

鈥淚 am deeply saddened to hear about the terrible shooting in Tasso de Silveira school in Rio. 皇冠体育app cruelty of this event reminds us of the preciousness of life. Our thoughts must go out for the families of the children and of the people hurt in the attack.鈥�
