Second phase of improvement work along A12 begins
皇冠体育app second phase of work on two schemes on the A12 between Essex and Ipswich to provide drivers with safer and more reliable journeys will start tonight (Monday).

A multi-million pound project to resurface sections of the A12 started in December and will see 16 km of this Essex and Suffolk road improved. 皇冠体育app preparatory work is now complete so the works will begin using contraflow for eight weeks, subject to weather conditions. 皇冠体育appse works will take place overnight between 10pm and 6am.
皇冠体育app A12 between junction 11 and 12 northbound and southbound will start tonight with the A12 junction 31 and 33 anticipated to take place on Monday 26 January, subject to weather conditions.
皇冠体育app work on the A12 between the M25 junction 28 at Brentwood in Essex and the A12 junction 33 includes carriageway resurfacing, the renewal of road signs, repairing drainage and upgrading safety barriers.
Highways Agency project manager, Anna Graham said:
We鈥檙e pleased the preparatory work has been completed and now the second phase can begin.
This is a multi-million pound scheme which is taking place to prolong the life of the carriageway. 皇冠体育app work has been designed to improve the surface of the road and safety for road users, while minimising the need for future maintenance works in these locations.
皇冠体育app main work will be carried out at night using contraflow so the road remains open. During the day the road will be open with two lanes operating in both directions.
We ask that drivers should be aware of the temporary road surface, take care travelling through the roadworks and adhere to the 40mph speed limit.
皇冠体育appre will be a need for closures when switching the contraflow between carriageways. During this time for the A12 between junction 11 and 12 northbound and southbound clearly signed diversion routes will be in place along the A1023 from the A12 junction 11 at Brook Street Interchange through Brentwood and along the B1002 to A12 junction 13 (Ingatestone) and vice versa.
皇冠体育app work is dependent on suitable weather conditions, and dates may be subject to change.
