Sellafield safety competition winners revealed
Over the summer we invited children of our employees, contractors, and wider community to help us create safety road signs for the Sellafield site.
Sellafield safety 'Sam the Snail' competition winners
Inspired by the theme 鈥楽am the Snail鈥�, 238 young people submitted drawings designed to encourage people working on the nuclear site to drive safely so that they could return home to loved ones, injury free.
Our chief executive, Euan Hutton, full time safety representative, Neil Edmondson, Elizabeth Wordsworth from next gen executive, James Lewis from Programme and Project Partners, and Suzanne Pender from our employee-led Family Network, had the difficult task of choosing the winners.
皇冠体育appy chose an outright winner in each of the 2 age categories. 皇冠体育appy were 6-year-old Remi in the 0 to 6 age category and 9-year-old Emily in the 7 to 12 age category.
皇冠体育app judges also created a shortlist of 20 snails from which employees voted for 6-year-old Ivy as their People鈥檚 Vote winner.

Remi said:
I鈥檓 excited for my picture to be a road sign at Sellafield so that other people and my mammy and daddy can see it when they go to work.
Emily said:
I came up with the drawing because in the area where my mum works, she said there鈥檚 quite a few builders, so I thought; why don鈥檛 I do my snail wearing all the builder outfits.
Ivy said:
I like drawing cartoon characters using YouTube videos 鈥楬ow to draw-step-by-step.鈥� Thank you for everyone that voted for my Sam the Snail.
