Smoother journeys for M57 drivers

Drivers using the M57 motorway around Kirkby in Merseyside are to benefit from smoother journeys.

皇冠体育app southbound carriageway of the M57 from junction 7 at Switch Island down to junction 6 at Kirkby is being resurfaced in a 拢726,000 Highways Agency project starting next month.

Highways Agency project sponsor Jakub Malaj said:

鈥楾his is routine wear and tear repair but it will give users of the M57 safer, smoother journeys.

To minimise inconvenience to motorway users all the work will be done overnight when the motorway is at its quietest. We are also avoiding closing the motorway by allowing drivers to use the hard shoulder while we are carrying out the resurfacing.

Resurfacing and new studs and road markings will be installed overnight between 10pm and 5am or 7am at weekends. A 50mph speed limit will be in place when the hard shoulder is being used as a running lane. Overnight work at weekends may result in some daytime lane closures to allow surface treatments to set and cool.

皇冠体育app work is due to start on Tuesday 16 September and will be completed by Monday 6 October.
