Stephen Crabb marks contribution of Wales' surviving servicemen of Normandy Landings

Secretary of State for Wales Stephen Crabb has today attended an award ceremony in Cardiff where 12 veterans from Wales received France’s highest military honour � the Légion d’Honneur.

»Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp honours recognise the selfless acts of heroism and determination displayed by all surviving veterans of the Normandy landings, and of the wider campaigns to liberate France in 1944.

Secretary of State for Wales Stephen Crabb said:

I am immensely proud to attend this special ceremony today.

»Ê¹ÚÌåÓýappse are great men who displayed immense bravery and determination in the liberation of France. »Ê¹ÚÌåÓýappy now rightly take their place amongst a special group of brave servicemen and women to have been awarded the highest of French honours.

»Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp Legion d’honneur was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802 and is awarded in recognition of both military and civilian merit.
