Traffic Commissioners for Great Britain publish 2022-23 annual report
ʹapp Traffic Commissioners� Annual Report to the Secretary of State is available to view and download.

ʹapp Traffic Commissioners for Great Britain have today (20 July 2023) released their Annual Report for 2022 to 2023.
ʹapp Commissioners introduce a new strategy to 2025 and evaluate the success of the previous objectives. Also addressed is the Traffic Commissioner Function Review, which records compelling evidence in support of their continuing role.
ʹapp Annual Report highlights issues such as:
- Availability of drivers and maintenance suppliers
- LGV vans
- CPC Transport Managers
- Managing risks
- Local Bus Services
It includes important issues such as driver shortages and the challenge to identify suitably qualified mechanics and fitters, as well as source spare parts for many vehicles.
Reflecting on the report, the Senior Traffic Commissioner Richard Turfitt said:
“It is a privilege to serve the communities of Great Britain and to make this contribution to the safety of road users.
“ʹapp Minister’s commendation in the recent review of the Traffic Commissioners, the staff in the OTC, and our delivery partners is most welcome. It recognises the hard work over the course of the last three years and that we continue to work on strengthening the delivery of services, and the willingness of my colleagues to improve outcomes for the industry and the public.�
ʹapp Annual Report contains statistics describing the licensing and regulatory activities. It records the regulatory activity of the Commissioners and support staff during the year, notably:
14,133 operator licence applications and variations processed
13,747 local bus registrations processed
1347 public inquiries determined
15,167 vocational driver cases closed
