Trustee Appointed to the Royal Museums Greenwich

皇冠体育app Prime Minister has appointed Alastair Marsh as Audit and Risk Trustee of Royal Museums Greenwich for a term of four years commencing on 3 December 2018.

Alastair Marsh is the Group Chief Executive of Lloyd鈥檚 Register Group, a professional and engineering services company with a current turnover of 拢850m and over 250 offices in 75 countries.

Alastair has been with Lloyd鈥檚 Register for twelve years, initially as Chief Financial Officer, and in the last three years he made the transition from CFO to CEO. Lloyd鈥檚 Register supports over 60,000 clients to minimise risk and optimise the performance of their assets and processes across a range of sectors centred upon critical infrastructure including oil and gas, nuclear, low-carbon, chemicals, manufacturing and food. Safety and risk are at the heart of the Group, which began as Lloyd鈥檚 Register of Shipping, a marine classification company, and continues to be one of the four key global providers of this service. Cyber, data and digital technologies are a key strategic focus and, through its global technology centres, Lloyd鈥檚 Register is at the forefront of the application of new science and technology to future-proof clients鈥� businesses.

In his time with Lloyd鈥檚 Register, Alastair has been instrumental in doubling the size of the business through organic and inorganic growth.

Alastair takes a keen interest in the preservation of maritime history through the Group鈥檚 partnership with the Lloyd鈥檚 Register Foundation that owns a comprehensive archive made available to the public through the Heritage and Education Centre.

Alastair is a chartered accountant and prior to joining Lloyd鈥檚 Register, spent six years with Price Waterhouse and subsequently held a number of senior management positions within the telecoms, chemicals, software, technology and computing sectors.

This appointment has been made in accordance with the Cabinet Office鈥檚 Governance Code on Public Appointments. 皇冠体育app appointments process is regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments. Under the Code, any significant political activity undertaken by an appointee in the last five years must be declared. This is defined as including holding office, public speaking, making a recordable donation, or candidature for election. Alastair has declared no such activity.
