Our plans for a new Consulate General and new visa application centre demonstrate the importance that the UK attaches to Hubei Province and the city of Wuhan. Hubei has long been one of China’s cultural and economic hubs. And Wuhan will continue to be one of China’s most important cities, thanks to its strengths in education and high-value manufacturing.
I am also delighted that we have agreed that China can open a new Consulate General in the UK. Both openings are a very clear signal that our bilateral relationship is a good one, and that both sides see an even brighter future ahead.
