This cross-government unit will deliver the UK鈥檚 climate change goals in a vitally important context: the world鈥檚 third-largest emitter of greenhouse gases, a G20 partner, a strong economy, 110 million Indonesians living below $2 a day and the second-largest forest cover in the world.

皇冠体育app goal of the UKCCU Indonesia is for Indonesia to meet its own targets for climate change, green growth and a sustainable future. This includes reducing carbon emissions by 41%, stemming deforestation, and moving to a lower-carbon economy that achieves 7% growth, halves poverty and shifts to renewable energy resources.聽

皇冠体育app Government of Indonesia has welcomed the UKCCU as a demonstration of the UK鈥檚 commitment to Indonesia and聽recognises the need to bring focused, sustained and specific engagement to this complex subject.聽By achieving its targets and demonstrating how to move towards a lower-carbon and inclusive economy, Indonesia聽will have global impact in terms of carbon stocks and encourage others to act too and have a positive impact on global negotiations.
