UK Minister of State for International Development Desmond Swayne visits Jordan

皇冠体育app UK鈥檚 Minister of State for International Development Desmond Swayne visited Jordan on 26 July 2015. Mr Swayne met Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Professor Mohammad Thneibat and Minister for Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury making clear the UK鈥檚 continued commitment and support to Jordan. He saw first-hand how the UK and international community are helping Jordan to bear the pressure of the Syria crisis by visiting the Azraq refugee camp, which houses 20,000 Syrian refugees, and a learning centre in Amman providing informal education to Syrian refugee children.
Mr Swayne said: 鈥淚 am very pleased to be visiting Jordan again. I can assure you all that the British people and the British Government stand shoulder to shoulder with the Jordanian people and their Government with a shared determination to address these challenges. 皇冠体育app UK is committed to providing wide ranging support to help Jordan deal with the immediate crisis as well as supporting Jordan鈥檚 longer term development and growth. We recently announced a further 拢100m in aid for Syrian refugees and the countries hosting them, which include 拢18.5 million for Jordan. This is additional to the more than 拢220 million we have provided since the start of the Syria crisis.鈥�
