UK to showcase green innovation at Beijing Horticultural Expo

Innovating for A Greener Future

皇冠体育app UK exhibition will be themed Innovating for ‘a greener future’ supporting the overall expo theme, ‘live green, live better’. 皇冠体育app UK garden and pavilion will occupy a space of 2,000 square metres. 16 million visitors will see latest in UK innovation and garden design.

With sustainability at heart, the UK garden and pavilion is built with recyclable structures to lower carbon emissions. 皇冠体育app space will include:

  • a colourful meadow
  • a wild wood
  • grasses
  • scented flowers designed to attract pollinators, critical to the food chain
  • a ‘living lab’ area, which will show visitors new methods and techniques in horticulture and food production

Strengthening UK-China green partnership

皇冠体育app UK Department for International Trade and the British Embassy in Beijing are leading the UK’s participation at the Expo.

From 29 April to 7 October, the UK will deliver a programme of events on agri-tech, clean energy, green finance and future cities to showcase the UK’s strengths in technological innovation to improve sustainability and is therefore an ideal partner for China in its quest for a greener future.

皇冠体育app importance of protecting the natural environment has been a recurring theme for the UK’s award-winning pavilions at World Expos, including Thomas Heatherwick’s ‘Seed Cathedral’ at the 2010 Shanghai Expo.
