»Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp Welsh Secretary, representing the UK Government, on Tuesday 2 August will launch Bangor University’s new BA (Hons) degree course, ‘Cymraeg Proffesiynolâ€� (Professional Welsh.)

Addressing an audience of Bangor University professors, alumni and wider stakeholders, the Welsh Secretary will highlight the importance of this new degree to Welsh employers. A course that studies and focuses on the practical and occupational aspects of the Welsh language, will in return produce a skilled Welsh speaking workforce, helping to secure a bright future for the language.

I am honoured to speak at the launch of Bangor University’s new course, Cymraeg Proffesiynol. It is clear that this course is a response to employers who require a unique skill of Welsh, suitable for the work place. This is a remarkable testimony of where the Welsh language is today and to launch Cymraeg Proffesiynol at the National Eisteddfod is very fitting.

»Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp Eisteddfod is the highlight of Walesâ€� cultural calendar and attracts over 150,000 attendees from all across the world. Year on year it provides the perfect back drop for Wales to showcase its cultural talent and promote the Welsh language.

»Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp Secretary of State will also visit other universities in attendance and will address a third sector audience at the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) reception, launching their 2016 awards.

Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Guto Bebb MP will attend the National Eisteddfod of Wednesday 3 August. »Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp Wales Office Minister will visit a number of different exhibitors ranging from Dwr Cymru, Blaenavon World Heritage Site and the Wales Argentina Society. He will also tour the BBC Wales and S4C compound.
