David Wallace has been Deputy High Commissioner at the British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur since July 2022.聽 He held the role of Acting British High Commissioner to Malaysia (Charg茅 d鈥橝ffaires) from August 2024 to April 2025, during which time Malaysia and the UK upgraded relations to a Strategic Partnership.

David has a diplomatic career spanning over twenty years during which he has covered a range of political, economic and security roles, focused in Europe and East Asia. From 2017 to 2022 he was Political Counsellor at the British Embassy in Berlin, where he built up co-operation with Germany on foreign, security and development issues.

Previously he has served as Political Counsellor in Warsaw, Head of Economic Section in Seoul and as a diplomatic adviser in Baghdad.聽 In the Foreign Office Head Office he has worked on sanctions, counter proliferation, Iraq and Afghanistan.

David has a BA (Hons) in Philosophy and an MA in International Economics.聽 He speaks English, German and Polish
