Robin Simcox

Biography

Robin Simcox was appointed as Interim Commissioner for the Commission for Countering Extremism (CCE) in March 2021. He was appointed as the substantive Commissioner for Countering Extremism in July 2022, for a three-year term.

Before his appointment, Robin worked for think tanks based in the UK and the US. Most recently, he was the founder and Director of the Counter Extremism Group, a think tank providing non-partisan research, commentary and policy looking at all forms of extremism.

Robin has testified before the US Congress on multiple occasions on issues related to ISIS, al-Qaeda, and associated movements. He has also provided oral evidence to a committee of the UK Parliament established to examine UK intelligence policy.

He has written for a wide range of publications including 皇冠体育app Washington Post, 皇冠体育app Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, 皇冠体育app Telegraph, and 皇冠体育app Guardian as well as various magazines and journals.

Robin received a Master of Science degree in US foreign policy from the Institute for the Study of the Americas, University of London, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History (International) from the University of Leeds.

Commissioner for Countering Extremism

皇冠体育app Commissioner for Countering Extremism is a non-statutory public appointee of the Home Office who operates independently and at arm鈥檚 length from government, providing the government with impartial, expert advice and scrutiny on the tools, policies and approaches needed to tackle extremism. 皇冠体育app Commissioner is supported by a small secretariat of Civil Servants.
