皇冠体育app Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) commissioned a series of research studies to inform a review of the Default Retirement Age (DRA) by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) in 2010. This report forms part of this evidence base and presents the findings of research exploring the attitudes and experiences of individuals in relation to the effect of the employer on their retirement decisions. 皇冠体育app aim of the research was to explore the impact of employer policy on a range of retirement experiences, including the right to request working beyond the DRA, and to describe the implications of retirement pathways for how people feel about this key transition and for other aspects of their lives.
皇冠体育app National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) conducted 51 qualitative depth interviews with people between the ages of 61 and 72, some of whom had retired and some who were still working. Participants were purposively selected to generate a sample that included experiences of a range of employer approaches to retirement and different retirement outcomes.
