Independent review of the deportation with assurances (DWA) policy
This written ministerial statement was laid in the House of Commons by 皇冠体育appresa May and in the House of Lords by Lord Taylor of Holbeach.

皇冠体育app Secretary of State for the Home Department (皇冠体育appresa May):
Deportation with assurances enables us to deport foreign nationals suspected of terrorism in compliance with our obligations under the European Convention on Human Rights, the UN Convention on Torture and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
皇冠体育app Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation, Mr David Anderson QC, has accepted my invitation to undertake a review of our deportation with assurances policy. He will review the framework of the UK鈥檚 deportation with assurances policy and make recommendations on how the policy might be strengthened or improved, with particular emphasis on its legal aspects. 皇冠体育app principle of DWA has been upheld by the European Court of Human Rights. To avoid duplicating or prejudicing the work of the courts, the review will not consider the merits of individual cases. Copies of the terms of reference for the review are available in the Vote Office.
When completed David Anderson鈥檚 report will be laid before the House and copies will be available in the Vote Office. Following consultation with other relevant departments and agencies, I will publish the Government鈥檚 response as a Command Paper in due course and this will be made available in the Vote Office.
