Details
Emissions projections are used as a way of monitoring progress towards the UK鈥檚 emission reduction targets. 皇冠体育app government has set targets for reductions in greenhouse gas emissions out to 2050. 皇冠体育apprefore a regularly updated set of projections is required as UK policy and understanding of likely future emissions evolves.
皇冠体育app UK is also required to submit projected emissions of greenhouse gases biennially under the European Union Monitoring Mechanism, and periodically in the form of National Communications to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
皇冠体育app projections which accompany this report are for the non-CO2 component of the Kyoto Protocol鈥檚 basket of greenhouse gases (GHG) and are collectively referred to as the non-CO2 GHGs. 皇冠体育appse are:
- methane (CH4)
- nitrous oxide (N2O)
- hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs)
- perfluorocarbons (PFCs)
- sulphur hexafluoride (SF6)
皇冠体育app HFCs, PFCs and SF6 are also collectively known as the 鈥楩-Gases鈥.
Projected emissions of CO2 are reported in DECC鈥檚 Updated Emissions Projections and are not included within the coverage of this report or associated projections.
