Creating Standardised Waste Packages

NWS have produced a suite of specifications and guidance for the safe disposal of the UK鈥檚 Low Heat Generating Waste (LHGW), High Heat Generating Waste (HHGW) and Depleted Natural Low Enriched Uranium (DNLEU). 皇冠体育app Waste Package Specifications and Guidance form a suite of documentation that are organised on the website as shown in the interactive figure below. 皇冠体育app specifications are organised in a hierarchical structure where the requirements from the Disposal System Specification (DSS) Part A cascade through to the Waste Package Specifications (WPS) Part D in increasing detail. 皇冠体育app role of each specification is as follows:
- 皇冠体育app Disposal System Specification Part A defines the high level requirements for the Disposal System.
- 皇冠体育app Disposal System Specification Part B defines the technical specification for the Disposal System.
- 皇冠体育app Part C Specifications define the envelope in which to develop new waste package designs for their chosen category of waste.
- 皇冠体育app Part D Specifications detail existing container specific requirements.
Guidance provides supporting information and considerations to ensure the requirements in the Part C and D Specifications are achieved.
