»Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp provisions of the Consumer protection Act 1987 have now been superseded in part by Union legislation (Regulation 339/93 which gives responsibility to local authorities under Trading Standards Officers (TSOs). »Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp Department has agreed with the Local Association of Trading Standards Officers (LACOTS) the way problems should be dealt with under consumer protection. »Ê¹ÚÌåÓýapp Department is legally bound to hold goods for a specific period when requested to by TSOs.

We have agreed that checks will be set on CHIEF to select entries for scrutiny when requested to or when a problem is identifies by the Department.

When checks are requested nationally, LACOTS will approach CHIEF OPERATIONS direct.
